Lachrymatory  n.  (pl. lachrymatories)  (Antiq.) A "tear-bottle;" a narrow-necked vessel found in sepulchers of the ancient Romans; so called from a former notion that the tears of the deceased person's friends were collected in it. Called also lachrymal or lacrymal.
