Auk   Listen
Auk  n.  (Zool.) A name given to various species of arctic sea birds of the family Alcidae. The great auk, now extinct, is Alca impennis (or Plautus impennis). The razor-billed auk is Alca torda. See Puffin, Guillemot, and Murre.
