Cinque Ports  n.  (Eng. Hist.) Five English ports, to which peculiar privileges were anciently accorded; viz., Hastings, Romney, Hythe, Dover, and Sandwich; afterwards increased by the addition of Winchelsea, Rye, and some minor places.
